Importing Business Equipment

If the Ole hadash is planning to be self-employed, but has not yet fulfilled the requirements listed above, s/he can pay the required Customs duties as a deposit which will be returned when s/he has fulfilled all the requirements.

This information applies to Olim who want to open a business requiring specialized equipment including professionals and trades.

The exemption does not apply to motor vehicles, parts, raw materials, perishables, and all other goods intended for leasing.

An approved business equipment shipment can be imported from any country, and is in addition to the Ole's right to import three shipments from any country.

An Ole can import portable tools from any country which are manufactured and sold as portable tools, if their value, (as determined by Meches) is under $1,650 without having to fulfill all the conditions listed above.

INHERITANCE SHIPMENT

A person who has no rights left as an Ole hadash and who wishes to bring in an "inheritance lift" must produce a copy of the testator's will as well as a copy of the death/burial certificate, which must be authorized by a legal entity.
The legal papers must be notarized by a lawyer licensed in Israel.
The inheritor must also show his/her rental or purchase home contract to confirm the address that the shipment will be delivered to.
When the shipment arrives, all these documents must be produced in order to release the shipment.

Before release of the shipment however, an assessment of the goods will be made by the customs officer at the port.
Be sure to have an exact itemized list.
All goods must be used items.
The shipment will then be released after payment of Customs duties and VAT on the items. Inherited items are exempt from purchase tax.
